Discover Gracia’s Boho-chic Boutiques
Leading on from our recent feature ‘Unique Barcelona Shopping Guide’ in the beautiful Born we wanted to cover the fabulous boutiques located up in gorgeous Gracia. As the Born is more on the tourist track down in the old town, the independent boutiques and sassy shops of Gracia are often more undiscovered by people passing through Barcelona. Therefore we wanted to share with you some of the most unique shops Barcelona has to offer that are usually only frequented by the cities ‘in the know’ fashionistas.
Gracia, located up at the top of the city, home of the infamous ‘Parc Guell’ is one of the cities most interesting and eclectic areas. As there are not so many tourists up there you really feel like you’ve discovered something diverse and unique. This bohemian area feels like a different world compared with its neighboring street of Passieg de Gracia and this is partly due to the fact that it was in fact an independent town until the late 19th Century.
Full of trendy bars, restaurants and shops Gracia is the ideal area for those who are looking for something a little bit different and for those who like exploring a little off the tourist track. With it being so accessible from the city centre there really is no excuse not to explore the bohochic shopping experience this charming little neighborhood has to offer.
Oslo
A veritable institution for the creative crowd of Barcelona, the ‘Oslenas’ as they call themselves are a group of 40 artists and artisans that run this intriguing space. Ran as both a workshop and a shop this is a must see when in the area as this is no ordinary ‘tienda’. Creating and selling everything from fascinators, fashion, jewellery through to gift cards, each artist has something extraordinary to offer. From photography, textile printing, hand illustrated bags and pads, and a hat collection unlike any you’ve ever seen before.
As the artists are working in-house the place has a truly artisan feel, like you’re right in the heart of where the magic happens. It goes without saying that everything is handmade but it is their attention to detail that is truly astounding. This place is a much revered and much loved academy of creation and innovation which will leave you inspired if not a little lighter in the wallet department.
