Barcelona Excusion: Half-Day Trip to Montserrat
Montserrat is a uniquely shaped mountain and Natural Park, and reaches over 4000 feet high. Visible for miles, with an odd formation of rounded peaks that jut into the sky (its name means “serrated mountain” due to the shape of these peaks), there are paths, stairs, caves, chapels and hermitages scattered throughout the mountain, in addition to the extraordinary landscapes and wonderful views.
The drive alone is picturesque as you pass along the Llobregat River to the foot of the spectacular Montserrat mountain, a natural park, and then up to the Sanctuary 725m (2380 feet) above sea level. Your guide will entertain you with tales of the history and legends of the mountain, the monastery, and the shrine. The return journey will be an alternative route accompanied by recordings of a variety of traditional Catalan music.
